Vitamin A

Antioxidant.

What is Vitamin A?

Vitamin A is a micronutrient whose most visible benefit is concentrated in the skin. We know it by many names, including retinoic acid, retinol, antixerophthalmic vitamin, biosterol and beta-carotene. It is a fat-soluble vitamin that the body obtains through diet.

There are two types of vitamin A: preformed, which is found in meat, fish and milk products, and provitamin A, which is found in plants such as fruit, vegetables and other greens.

For example, the best-known type of provitamin A is beta-carotene, which is found in carrots.

Discover its properties

Vitamin A is closely linked to acne, given that vitamin A deficiency can cause its onset.

When applied to the skin, retinol transforms into its active form and has the ability to repair the innermost structure of the skin. This vitamin has an anti-wrinkle action and provides firmness, reduces pigmentation, is antioxidant and helps repair wounds.

Why use Vitamin A in your cosmetics routine

Anti-wrinkle: retinoids effectively fight off aging.

  • Firmness: retinoic acid (the active form of retinol in the skin) regulates keratogenesis, a process necessary for keeping the skin taut.
  • Pigmentation: vitamin A is probably the element that most contributes to keeping the skin healthy while also helping maintain a natural tan since it encourages the development of pigment in the skin.
  • Healing: vitamin A encourages healing and helps keeps the skin soft by regulating the metabolism of cellular regeneration of the horny layer.
