Activated charcoal can be obtained from almond and coconut shells, peat, palm trees and other wood or mineral coal. It is heated to a high temperature, then gas is introduced and a very fine powder of extraordinary absorbing power is formed, in this case able to absorb excess oil in the skin.
In most cases bamboo is used to produce it. This is because it is the fastest-growing woody plant in the world. Bamboo is grown for five years, then burnt and crushed to obtain the activated charcoal.
Discover its properties
Activated charcoal has mainly detoxifying and purifying properties. It helps control excess sebum in the skin.
Because it is a microporous ingredient with excellent absorption properties, it can bind to different types of molecules such as toxins, impurities, lipids like sebum, and other substances that are harmful to the skin, which then disappear when the mask is rinsed off.
